Hi everyone,

Thanks for your hard work today on ITBS tests. Thanks also for being so sweet and showing me so much love on my last day before I go to Malaysia. You are all sweet as pie!

I won't be posting on the blog for the rest of the week so it will be up to you to be organized and help each other stay on top of what you need to do. You are all little teachers for the rest of the week so please be responsible, support each other, and make me proud. The substitute teachers may need your help so show them how we do things in our classroom. Don't forget your class jobs!

You can also start your google doc with the information that is needed for your poster if you want to get ahead. (Please share it with me)

*Take a look at the Google Doc folder I shared with you that explains your upcoming Biography 3 part project. Get started as soon as possible.
**Share your Google Slides presentation with me at this email address: fisher.disk@gmail.com

***If you have any questions about anything please do not write me on hangouts, please write me an email and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Be nice to your substitute teachers and to each other and represent grade 4 well while I am gone.

Good afternoon everyone,

We had a lovely morning participating in the Stations of the Cross Mass. Nathan was a responsible and admirable leader carrying the cross as everyone followed him from station to station. Grace and Fiona each did a reading before the school. Well done!

Afterwards we had a grammar lesson about adverbs. We did an interactive notebook activity, did some group practice, and then the kids showed their learning in their workbooks which we reviewed together before break.

During Math we talked about temperature and negative numbers and learned how to read thermometers and find the difference between temperatures. In your free time please practice these skills on IXL.

Important Reminders & Homework:

1. Tomorrow is school clean up day, so please bring an old rag or cloth to help out!

2. Next Tuesday March 24 is Photo Day. Our time slot is 8:45 so please be on time and wearing a clean formal uniform and your biggest smile!

What a fantastic day we had together! The Escape Room was challenging but a ton of fun and it was wonderful to see the kids working together. The rest of the afternoon was spent eating and playing in Central Park. Thankfully the sun was shining and we were all grateful for the extra time outside.

Homework:

-Edit your summarized article. Check your grammar, punctuation, spelling, and verbs and adjectives. Don't forget transition words!

-Invention Convention page 6. Tomorrow I will be meeting with each student individually. You should be able to tell me what you are planning to create and how. (What materials will you use?)

Monday March 20, 2017

Hi everyone,

Welcome back! This morning we began our ITBS practice tests. The Iowa tests help us to assess where each child is performing academically.  We use the data to help guide our instruction and it also allows us to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of a child’s learning level.  Testing results will be sent home to each family once we receive them but they do take a couple to be processed and mailed out. The practice tests will be administered this week and the real tests will be given out throughout the course of Mach 21-31.

Test taking tips:
  • Go to bed early every night.
  • Make sure you eat a good breakfast.
  • Be on time to school.
  • Try your best!
  • Bring your water bottle and drink plenty of water throughout the day.
  • Keep a positive attitude!
Field Trip Reminders:
  • *Tomorrow we are going on our field trip to Escape Room and Central Park. Please send  students to school in their P.E. uniforms, with a packed lunch, snacks, and a water bottle. They may like to bring a towel or blanket to put on the grass for our picnic lunch, a hat,  sunscreen, or a ball or book to play with at the park. Looking forward to the fun! Please also bring your health card.

*Thursday March 23 is our Stations of the Cross Mass beginning at 8:30 am.
*Friday is our school cleanup led by Student Council. If you have a rag or cleaning towel please bring it in to school to join in on our spring cleaning.

Homework:

Due Wednesday March 22: Research, does your invention already exist? If so, can you change it or improve it in some way? If not, you need to go back and think of a new problem to solve. (p.6)

Please look at the google doc I shared with you called "The Holocaust Article." Create a new google doc and name it: Holocaust article your name
Your task is to summarize the article entirely in your own words. Your summary must be at least 2 paragraphs.

Happy Friday y'all.

This morning we went over exams and talked about upcoming events at school. Later we got a head start on our next Science unit, Matter and talked about its properties. After break we talked about WWII in the Pacific. Before lunch we all went downstairs and the kids split into their houses and participated in a wild and fun scavenger hunt!

Thank you for a wild and amazing sports day! You're all winners in my eyes (but mostly the red team hehe)

This weekend your homework is INVENTION CONVENTION PAGES 1-5.

The word of the day is obviously red!

Good afternoon all you little hard workers!

You made it! You have successfully finished your third quarter exams. Only one more set to go this year! I am so incredibly proud of the hard work and time management you have shown to complete all of your projects on top of studying for your exams. The solar system models and the WWII dioramas were truly above and beyond. The point of these projects is for you to create something that you can be proud of. We will be displaying the projects throughout the classroom, school office, and library in the weeks to come so that the entire DISK community can appreciate your creations. Congratulations to all of you who put your best effort forward, it has really paid off.

Today I gave students back their exams and project evaluations. Afterwards we watched the film version of Bridge to Terabithia and discussed how it was similar and different from the book we just finished studying.

Homework & Special Announcements:

*If you need any notebooks, pencils or erasers, please make sure to get them as soon as possible so you are ready for quarter 4.

*Tomorrow is SPORTS DAY! Please wear your P.E. pants and House T-Shirts. Bring plenty of water! We're going to have a fantastic time! Parents you are welcome to join us for the fun beginning at 1:30 pm.

-Sign exams

-Monday March 20 pages 1-5 of your Invention Convention booklet are due. You must have decided on a topic by the day. What do you want to invent? What can you create that will solve a problem or make your life easier or more fun in some way? If you have any questions or are confused you must come ask for help tomorrow, not Sunday night or Monday morning.
