Good afternoon everyone,

This morning we did an online interactive lesson in Science about how we use technology. During Language we continued talking about theme. In Social Studies we reviewed yesterday's concepts before talking further about the progressive era and learning some new vocabulary words. During Reading class we continued reading the Power of W.O.W. and discussed possible themes for the story. At the end of the day we spent a few minutes dancing around the classroom and unwinding. They are so fun to be silly with! Have a nice night and please study for your upcoming tests and quizzes.

Hi everyone,

This morning in Grammar class we learned about the difference between common and proper nouns. During Daily 2 students practiced reading and writing skills. In Science class we talked about the objective and vocabulary for the lesson and then students split into partners to read and summarize their assigned pages. Each group then presented their topic to the class and together we compiled all the most important information into class notes. We will go over this again tomorrow. During Math we started chapter 3 and talked about the addition properties and subtraction rules. In Social Studies, we began Chapter 12 and talked about the Labor Movement. We took the time during ECA to do extra math practice and to get a head start on studying for upcoming quizzes and tests.

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. This morning one of our very own students was honored at morning assembly for being an Angel of the Week! Congratulations Michael and thanks for looking out for the younger kids at DISK.

During Reading class we started to learn about theme. It's a big concept so we will continue to talk about it throughout the week. Students wrote their Chapter 2 tests during Math and overall did a fantastic job! During Science class we put our engineering design process knowledge to work. I gave students the challenge of designing a protective case for a single Pringle chip using only 1 piece of scrap paper, 4 inches of tape, and glue. The encased chip would then be dropped from the 3rd floor balcony of the school and hopefully not break upon landing. They had to go through each of the steps from design and build to communicate their results. It was a great learning experience and very fun to see the little engineers at work!

Happy (rainy) Friday everyone!

We had a very busy morning and I was impressed with all of our hardworking grade four students! First they wrote their spelling tests and we learned some new vocabulary from the next Journeys story. During Math we did Chapter 2 review in preparation for Monday's test. In Social Studies they wrote their Chapter 11 tests and overall did quite a good job! Way to go! During Reading class at the end of the day we practiced reading our new story.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe weekend. See you on Monday morning! =)

HOMEWORK:
LANGUAGE:

MATH:
*Chapter 2 Test Monday September 5

*Please send some time on IXL practicing some of the following skills: Money M1, M2, M3, M6, Data and Graphs J4, and Number Sense A9. Spend more time on whatever you find difficult so that you can improve.

Hello,

This morning in Reading we practiced reading with intonation and making our voices loud and clear. We followed that with some Social Studies review for tomorrow's test and then moved on to math where we learned how to read bar graphs to compare data. In Science we did an online interactive lesson about the engineering design process. They worked so hard this morning that I rewarded them with a little brain break and chance to shake it out! Look at those happy faces!

Go Michael Go!

Ayrton and Marianne have moves!

We should start a dance club!
